FLIGHTS TO AND FROM LORETO BAJA CALIFORNIA SUR

ALASKA AIRLINES:

Alaska flighs from Los Angeles to Loreto Thursday, Friday, Saturday Sunday.  The plane is a Boeing 737.

WESTJET:

Westjet flys from Calgary to Loreto weekly between November to May.  The plane is a Boeing 737.

AEROCALAFIA:

Aerocalafia is an airline that flies throughout North-Western Mexico.  On Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday you can catch a flight from Loreto to Tijuana (or return).  This is a well maintained but small airline.  Sometimes there are delays in arrivals and departures.  If you are flying from Loreto to Tijuana and have a connecting flight from San Diego BE SURE to give yourself plenty of time to make your connection.  It should be around 4 hours but we would recommend 6-8 or next day.

VOLARIS AIRLINES:

Also out of Tijuana Volaris offers flights that from Tijuana to Loreto Tuesdays and Saturdays.  Larger airline, more consistent with being on time.

To get to the Tijuana Airport you can take Uber, taxi, or the provided shuttle from the San Diego Airport to the Cross Border Express bridge that leads into the departure terminal the Tijuana airport.  Proof of ticket and passport are required.  There is also long term parking on the San Diego side, but reports say it is limited.

Also the Blue Line trolly from the Santa Fe station in San Diego ends at the border crossing in San Ysidro.  This area has been modernized over the last two years and going through immigration and customs is very organized and quick.  Once on the Mexico side at the bottom of the walkway (NOT before) is an official taxi stand with posted prices and licensed taxi drivers.  Cost as of July 2019 is 100-150 pesos from there to the airport (added bonus the taco stand next to the taxis is really good)

HELPFUL LINKS:

Greyhound Crucero line:  Partnership with Volaris Airlines shuttle service over the border.  Also may be known as “Ticketon”

San Diego has a wonderful public transit system as well: www.sdcommute.com

Bus lines in Baja California Sur

The bus lines in Mexico are the most popular form of long distance travel within the country. That being said bus lines are very comfortable, modern, and frequent. The stations (overall) are clean, modern, and usually have food. The larger bus stations look very much like modern airports (just buses not planes). The average time for a bus from Tijuana to Loreto is 16 hours. If you are traveling from Loreto to San Ignacio in the spring this is a great option for couples and solo travelers. Contact Us to get the inside scoop.

There are two main bus lines that run from Tijuana all the way down to Los Cabos. They are Aguila http://www.autotransportesaguila.com/, and ABC www.abc.com.mx
